Cyans Skies

This World War II cemetery and memorial in Colleville-sur-Mer in Normandy, France was truly one of the most peaceful places I’ve ever visited. It was a beautiful, clear summer day and the tranquility and solemnity  of it all made a memorable impression on me. It reminded me that the freedom we all enjoyed was due to the great sacrifices made by these incredibly brave soldiers.

Being Arindam..

People say that, the toughest job in this world is to spread the smiles. I do agree. But there are people whose smiles are so beautiful, that they automatically bring smiles to the other’s face.

I met such a kid, whose smile I am going to remember forever. Neither I know him nor I had ever met him before. I went to a village near my hometown, and seeing some cows grazing  in a near field. I went there to photograph them. When I was done, and about to enter the car, I could hear a kid shouting from a long distance- “bhai, mora bi gote photo uthao!” (in my mother tongue he was saying, brother take one picture of mine too). Then one more kid came seeing me talking to one of his friends.

To be honest, I never argue with kids ; I just love them seeing happy. My biggest regret in…

Cave Point County Park is located adjacent to Whitefish Bay State Park in Door County, WI.  Whitefish Bay State Park boasts a very large sandy swimming beach, and also an entrance and usage fee.  On the other hand, Cave Point County Park is free and, in my opinion, much more of an interesting sight to see.  You can walk along the rocky shelf for as far as you want to go.  You can sit along the lakeshore and listen to the waves gently push to the rock ledge.  Many people like to pass the time by building stacked rock formations.

During one summer over two decades ago, a friend invited me to visit his family inside Myanmar. On Sunday he preached on the subject of commitment and made this witty remarks:

A chicken and a pig were passing by a church and heard the beautiful choral singing. Said the chicken to the pig,“That was beautiful! Let’s show our appreciation by giving them a good ham and egg breakfast.” Replied the pig, “For you, that may be sacrifice; for me, that is total commitment.

How true it is with most Christians and also with the vast sea of humanity. We are willing to go a mile or so but would demand of others to go the whole distance….

Lost in Translation

Once again Ms Rosso made me do something I had never done before. The weekly challenge said: “friendship” so I grabbed my camera and went for a tour of my neighbourhood.

It is the first time that I took a shot at street photography and not being looked suspiciously upon, or being scolded as a stalker, I have to admit I had fun taking these pics.

Stories of friendship from my neighbourhood park…

Buttercream & Chantilly

Descendez pour la version française.

Yesterday was Mother’s Day in France. I’ve never understood why we don’t have a worldwide Mother’s Day. .. Anyway. When I was in High school, my bff called me completely stressed out on a Saturday and told me that she was in trouble because  it was Mother’s Day on Sunday and that she hadn’t known it and that she hadn’t planned anything for her mom and of course why hadn’t told her ! I answered that I was  surprised as well because I thought that  it was in a few weeks …  Then we found out that it was the USA Mother’s Day. She had been mistaken by her diary that her dad bought her there on a business trip. That’s how we learnt that Mother’s Day wasn’t the same day worldwide.

Do you remember that After Eight Cake I baked for my mom for her…

Sincerely Liz

Last fall I found a pin on Pinterest showing a teacup bracelet and I instantly fell in love with them.  I went to the artists site on Etsy and knew I could never afford one of her beautiful bracelets.  I have a very large collection of teacups, but I didn’t want to “attempt” making one out of my collection, so off to Goodwill I went.  I found a few and began the journey on how to make them.

I googled it and found a few threads on how people had attempted to make them, but not one had complete success.  I spent many sleepless nights trying to figure this out, and attempted to cut a few with my dremel, but without success, just added more pieces to my mosaic collection 🙂  I decided a wet tile saw would be the solution, not realizing what I was getting into.  I built…
